Vorteilscard
General questions about the Vorteilscard
-
Where can I buy my Vorteilscard?
At ÖBB ticket counters, in an ÖBB travel agency at a railway station, online at shop.oebbtickets.at or in the ÖBB app.
The quickest and easiest way to purchase a Vorteilscard is online: simply create an ÖBB Account using your PC, laptop or smartphone at oebb.at and order and pay for your chosen Vorteilscard online.
-
What should I do if I lose my Vorteilscard or it is stolen?
Please report the loss or theft of your card immediately to the relevant authority. Please take the proof you will receive (e.g. theft report) to an ÖBB ticket desk (locations and opening hours can be found in the relevant station information). Your card will be cancelled and you will receive a replacement card for a service fee of €15 (see handbook, section E.1.13).
-
Can I cancel or terminate my Vorteilscard?
The Vorteilscard cannot be cancelled or terminated during the term of the contract.
Please bear in mind that if you pay for your ÖBB Vorteilscard by SEPA direct debit (direct debit), you will automatically enter into a new contract if you do not object to the contract renewal in writing at least one month before the card expires.
-
Can I cancel my Vorteilscard purchase? Where can I find the form to cancel my purchase of a Vorteilscard?
You can withdraw from your purchase of a Vorteilscard and assert your right of cancellation (right of withdrawal). This is only not possible if you purchase the Vorteilscard at a ticket desk.
The 14-day period also applies if the Vorteilscard only becomes valid in the future (e.g. online purchase of the Vorteilscard on 1 August 2022, Vorteilscard validity begins on 20 August 2022, cancellation possible until 14 August 2022).
Fill in the form, sign it and send it to us together with the Vorteilscard in cheque card format:
- By post to ÖBB Kund:innenservice, Postfach 222, 1020 Wien
- Drop it off at an ÖBB ticket desk
Deadlines must be adhered to when cancelling a Vorteilscard. The card fee will generally be refunded within 14 days of receipt of the cancellation request, but may be refused by ÖBB-PV AG until receipt of the Vorteilscard or corresponding proof that it has been sent within the necessary timeframe. The refund will be issued to the same means of payment that you used for the purchase.
-
What do I do if I have extended my existing Vorteilscard but have not received my new one before the expiry of the old one?
In this scenario, please contact our ÖBB Customer Service team on 05-1717 so that we can check whether the renewal was successful. If necessary, a temporary Vorteilscard can be issued on an individual basis at a ticket desk. Please take your payment confirmation (money order, bank transfer confirmation or order form) with you.
-
What is a SEPA direct debit mandate?
The direct debit authorisation you give us is referred to as a SEPA direct debit mandate. The SEPA direct debit mandate authorises us to collect the amount, e.g. for the Vorteilscard, from your account. Please note that a change of service provider may result in changes to the payment process. Any existing SEPA mandate will no longer be used for the renewal of Vorteilscards expiring after 12 September 2023.
-
I had an existing SEPA direct debit mandate and still did not receive a new card after my Vorteilscard expired. What do I need to do?
Due to changes in the billing process, existing SEPA mandates are no longer valid. Your Vorteilscard will therefore not be renewed as usual by SEPA direct debit. A new mandate can be issued as part of a new purchase authorisation. The quickest and easiest way to buy a Vorteilscard is online at shop.oebbtickets.at or in the ÖBB app, or alternatively at ÖBB ticket desks or ÖBB travel agencies at railway stations.
-
Why is ÖBB no longer using my SEPA mandate to renew my Vorteilscard?
Your SEPA mandate must be updated because SEPA collection will be carried out by a new service provider (One Mobility Ticketing GmbH) in the future. Consequently, One Mobility Ticketing GmbH will be the beneficiary of the SEPA mandate in future. This change of service provider will have no effect on you as a customer in terms of tariffs or legally. Any contract of carriage will also continue to be concluded between you as the end customer and ÖBB-PV AG.
-
Which billing processes have been changed and why?
One Mobility Ticketing GmbH, a joint service provider for billing and clearing processes, will take over billing-related processes (e.g. the collection and allocation of sales revenue) from ÖBB-PV AG. This is intended to increase the efficiency of our billing processes.
-
How do I get an invoice for my Vorteilscard?
You will receive an input tax certificate for all Vorteilscards purchased after 13 September 2023. This certificate allows you to deduct input tax in accordance with § 12 UStG 1994.
If you purchased your Vorteilscard before 13 September 2023, the provisional Vorteilscard that you receive when you pay at a ticket desk is deemed to be your invoice. When ordering online, the provisional Vorteilscard sent to you by email in combination with the accompanying letter will serve as proof of payment. Please note that the invoice can only be issued to the cardholder.
If you have paid by payment order or SEPA direct debit, you can request an invoice in writing from ÖBB Customer Service. You can contact ÖBB Customer Service using the contact form or by post at ÖBB Kunden:innenservice, Postfach 222, 1020 Wien. -
What is a creditor ID?
The creditor ID identifies our company. This allows you to clearly recognise our direct debits in your account.
-
How do I change my details?
Simply enter any changes to your details in your ÖBB Account ("Personal" menu), using the contact form or by post (ÖBB Kund:innenservice, Postfach 222, 1020 Wien).
-
Can I change my details (name, address) in the system myself when ordering my Vorteilscard online?
Yes, you can change your address in your ÖBB Account in the "My account" tab.
Before you order/renew your Vorteilscard, you will be asked whether your details are still up to date. If there has been a change here, you can change the information before placing your order in the "My account" menu.
-
There is no longer a photo on my Vorteilscard. Do I now have to carry photo ID with me on every train journey?
Yes, your Vorteilscard is only valid in conjunction with photo ID with proof of age.
-
Do I have to enter the correct date of birth in my customer details?
Yes. If you enter an incorrect date of birth, you may not be issued with the correct customer card. This may result in penalty fares or other consequences.
And please don’t forget that your Vorteilscard is only valid in conjunction with valid photo ID showing proof of age. -
Why will Railplus offers no longer be available after 9 December 2023?
The Railplus offer is an international joint offer provided by certain railway companies that offers a discount for cross-border rail journeys. In summer 2022, the participating railway companies decided to discontinue this offer from the timetable change for 2024 (on 10 December 2023). As a result, the Railplus discount for Vorteilscard holders will no longer be available from 10 December 2023.
-
Why were the GTC for the ÖBB Vorteilscard changed in October 2022?
Due to the discontinuation of the Railplus offer, it was necessary to amend the GTC for the ÖBB Vorteilscard. The provisions on the Railplus offer will be removed from the GTC and temporarily - until the Railplus offer is finally discontinued - shown in the description of discounts with the Vorteilscard in section C.5 of the Guide for Travelling with ÖBB in Austria. The amended GTC will be used as the basis for new and renewed Vorteilscard contracts.
-
I use an app to store all my customer cards in one place when I present my cards. Is this also possible with the ÖBB Vorteilscard?
No, applications from other providers are not accepted by ÖBB. Please use the ÖBB app to present your ÖBB Vorteilscard in electronic form.
-
Why does the payment slip I received as part of my contract renewal no longer say "ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG", but the name of another company?
One Mobility Ticketing GmbH is listed as the recipient on the payment slip, as it will take over ÖBB-PV AG’s billing-related processes in the future.
