Digital information systems at the station keep passengers constantly up to date. Via loudspeaker announcements, monitors, notices or personal advice, travellers can find out at any time from which platform their train is departing, how much time they have left to board and where they can find their reserved seat or preferred carriage. Should there ever be any changes, the digital customer information ensures that they still arrive relaxed.
This is how you find your train and the right platform...
There are many ways to find your way around the station. All stations have modern departure monitors that show you the next trains, including their destination, any intermediate stops and the departure platform.
Larger stations also have a central main display that always shows you when your train is leaving and from which platform - and whether there is a slight delay. So you always have everything in view!
LED platform indicator
We have all been there: is the incoming train "my" train, is it on time and am I standing in the right area of the platform where it will stop?
The platform indicator gives you the answer in real time: quickly, clearly and directly. For long-distance services, the platform indicator even shows the order of the carriages.

Monitors
Information screens at railway stations display the destination, platform, stops en route and the real-time departure and arrival times of trains.
Departure monitor
On the departure monitor, the platform with the sector where the train or train section stops is shown on the right in the last column. Special information is shown in the yellow info line; the info line is white for construction site information. Yellow is also the signal colour for values that deviate from the plan.
The departure monitors also have flashing dots that indicate that the train will depart soon:
- a white dot means the train is ready
- the dot flashes green 5 minutes before departure
- flashing yellow means departure is in 2 minutes
Note: The arrival monitor can be recognised by the green background.
Departure monitor "Light"
Smaller optical-dynamic monitors are used at stations with low passenger numbers.
The "Departure Monitor light" displays the next 8 trains and the special information (yellow info line) is also displayed. An integrated read-out function with the voice of Chris Lohner is available.

Audio information - ÖBB chime
Announcements are as much a part of the station as the gong signals that draw attention to them. Alongside the monitor displays, the loudspeaker announcements are one of the most important means of informing travellers about delays or platform changes. Acoustic information is particularly helpful for those people who are unable to perceive visual information well or at all.

Train formation and timetables
The train formation displays provide information about the train composition and the facilities on the trains, such as dining cars, either electronically or on timetables. This makes it easier to board the train quickly at the right stop, for example if you have a reservation, and thus helps to ensure punctuality.
An overview of the entire timetable period is provided by the route, departure and arrival timetables. Information about construction sites, platform and train rules, passenger rights or safety information, wagon order and timetables can also be found in the display cases and information zones on the platform.
This is how you find your reserved seat:
- The train formation indicator is located on the platform in the InfoZone at long-distance train stations.
- The next trains are shown here.
- The seat and carriage number are noted on your ticket.
- Now find the corresponding carriage number in the respective sector.
- Go to the area of your boarding point in the corresponding sector.
- On the platform, you will find the corresponding sector signs overhead in the middle of each sector section.
