Yes, the validity period always corresponds to the expiry date of your KlimaTicket Ö.

We must point out that it is not possible to reduce the price proportionately. The current price of the ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade to the KlimaTicket Ö, if purchased later during the course of the year, can be viewed directly in the ÖBB ticket shop.

Please bring an official form of photo ID and your KlimaTicket Ö with you when making your purchase.

You will receive a letter from us well in advance regarding the renewal of your current ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade. You will be sent a payment instruction if you wish to renew an ÖBB 1st class upgrade without a SEPA direct debit mandate (direct debit order). If you have given us a SEPA direct debit mandate, we will automatically renew your upgrade if you do not object to the contract renewal in writing within the specified period.

Please report the loss or theft of your upgrade immediately to ÖBB Customer Services on 05-1717 or at an ÖBB ticket desk. As soon as we receive your report, the card will be blocked and the risk of misuse will be eliminated. You can obtain a replacement card free of charge at any ÖBB ticket desk. We will need an official loss report or police report before we can issue a replacement card.

If you have given us a SEPA direct debit mandate for your ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade (direct debit order), you can opt out of the contract renewal within the period specified in the renewal letter. You will receive a letter from us. Please take note of the following: the signed cancellation letter should either be sent by post to ÖBB Kundenservice, Postfach 222, 1020 Vienna, submitted via oebb.at/kontakt (with a scanned signature) or handed in at an ÖBB ticket desk. The cancellation must be received at least one month before the expiry date.

You can cancel your ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade during the period of validity, from the start of the 7th month of the contract.

You have the right to extraordinary cancellation if you move from Austria to another country, if you become unemployed or fall ill for a period of 3 months or more. You can prove that you have moved abroad by deregistering from the Austrian Central Register of Residents and providing proof of your new address abroad. If you have recently become unemployed, you must provide a certificate of unemployment; if you have been ill for 3 months or more, you must provide a medical certificate.

In the event that you cancel after the 7th month of the contract or in the event of extraordinary cancellation, please return the upgrade confirmation on security paper to an ÖBB ticket desk. In the event of extraordinary cancellation, the cancellation fee is waived. If the contract is cancelled from the 7th month onwards, a cancellation fee equivalent to one month’s payment will be charged. If you have paid the entire price of the card at once, we will transfer the corresponding monthly amounts to your account for each month not started, minus the cancellation fee. If you pay for the ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade monthly by SEPA direct debit, a final monthly amount will be debited as a cancellation fee.

The ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade allows you to use the 1st class cars on all ÖBB long-distance trains within Austria in conjunction with a valid KlimaTicket Ö. You can also relax in our 7 exclusive ÖBB lounges.

You can purchase your ÖBB 1st class upgrade up to one month in advance (1 month before the start of validity). A valid KlimaTicket Ö is required for the purchase.

The period of validity depends on the expiry date of your KlimaTicket Ö, up to a maximum of 13 months.

It is possible to switch, yes. This requires a valid KlimaTicket Ö Classic/Senior/Youth/Special with family surcharge. Please note that in this case your existing ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade will be cancelled. The ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade Classic costs € 1,355 for one year as a one-off payment.

The ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade Classic Family is available to anyone aged 26 to 64 (65 years from 1 January 2022).

The ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade Classic costs € 1,495 for one year as a one-off payment.

The ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade Senior Family is available to anyone over the age of 64. Please be aware that this age limit will be raised by one year in 2022.

The ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade Senior Family costs € 1,170 for one year.

The ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade Special is available to passengers with disabilities.

All passengers with disabilities who have the following entries in their Austrian Disability Pass or Disabled Ex-Service Personnel Pass can purchase an ÖBB 1st Class Upgrade Special:

• Degree of disability of at least 70% or
• Additional entry ‘Can claim reduced fares as per the Federal Disability Act’.
• Severely disabled war veterans with a corresponding Disabled Ex-Service Personnel Pass. Holders of victim ID cards under the Victims’ Welfare Act and severely disabled persons under the Army Welfare Act have the same status.

Yes. You can cancel your purchase contract for an ÖBB reservation subscription purchased online (shop.oebbtickets.at or ÖBB App) within 14 days from the order date.

The KlimaTicket Ö is valid within its geographical scope with a Standard-Ticket, granting access to both first and second class, as well as overnight transport in the comfort class seat car. Discounted or limited offers cannot be applied.

The KlimaTicket Ö is valid within its geographical scope for daytime journeys abroad. For the part of the journey abroad which the KlimaTicket Ö is not valid, you must pay the price of a Standard-Ticket for that part of the trip.

The KlimaTicket Ö is also recognised for international overnight transport within the geographical scope of the KlimaTicket Ö. Here, passengers pay a discounted price for the part of the journey abroad which the KlimaTicket Ö is not valid for.
