Where can I hire a bike?
Bikes can currently be hired using the wegfinder app in Baden bei Wien and Kirchberg in Tirol. The exact locations can be found in the wegfinder app.
- Baden bei Wien: Brusattiplatz 2 (next to the Tourist Information Centre)
- Kufstein: Salurner Straße 2
- Wörgl: Bahnhofplatz
-
Can I hire the bike at one location and return it at another?
No. Please return the rental bikes to the location that you borrowed them from.
-
What sort of bikes do you offer? Is there a choice of types?
There are mountain bikes, e-mountain bikes and/or trekking bikes available in various sizes, depending on availability and location. You can use the wegfinder app to see all the available models at your preferred time. Simply select ‘Bike’ on the start screen, then select the ‘Book’ button and browse all the available models for the desired time frame.
-
Do the bikes have a luggage rack?
Whether a luggage rack is available depends on the model of bike. The wegfinder app also displays images of the individual models.
-
Are you allowed to fit accessories that you have brought with you (e.g. panniers, trailers, child seats)?
No, unfortunately this is not permitted for legal and technical reasons. Bicycle helmets and phone holders can be hired at the rental location if required.
-
Are e-bikes always charged up and ready to go?
Yes, each e-bike is plugged in to charge by the previous user. Every new user can therefore look forward to a fully charged battery.
-
How long does the battery hold its charge for?
That depends on a variety of factors. The e-bikes are fitted with new, powerful 4th generation Bosch Performance CX motors and an efficient 625 watt battery. Depending on the terrain, weight of the user, speed travelled and extent of use of the motor, the possible range can be up to 150 kilometres.
-
How much does hiring a bike cost?
The bikes can be hired at a daily rate. Prices may vary depending on the location and model of bike. More precise details about prices can be found in the wegfinder app.
-
How do I reserve and book a mountain bike/road bike?
It’s simple: select ‘Bike’ on the start screen of the wegfinder app and follow the instructions in the app. A one-time registration in the wegfinder app is required in order to make a reservation/booking. A bike must be reserved/booked before you can access the bike hire location.
-
Can I book multiple bikes at the same time through the wegfinder app?
Yes, you can. A booking must be made one after the other in the wegfinder app for each bike you wish to hire. A ticket will be generated for each booking. Each ticket will unlock one bicycle when you go to collect it. The hire must be ended separately for each bike once you have finished with it.
-
How do I start the bike hire, or rather how do I access the hire location?
A valid booking must have been made through the wegfinder app before you can start the bike hire. You can view this at any time in your app profile under ‘Tickets & Trips’.
In order to pick up the bike from the Bike Lounge, go to the booking and click on ‘Collect bike’. You will then be instructed to scan the QR code on the door. The system checks whether there you have a valid booking. If this is the case, the door will open automatically. The relevant vehicle will be shown in the app (the bikes are numbered). The electronic frame lock on the bike can be opened using the wegfinder app.
If you have any problems with the door, please contact Customer Services on +43 51717 2100 (Mon-Sun 08:00 - 17:00). Outside of these times, please send an e-mail to help@wegfinder.at and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
-
How do I get to the bikes/how do I open the hire location?
The hire bikes are housed in locked rooms that can be unlocked by scanning a QR code. A QR code is displayed on the entrance door of each hire location, which you simply scan with the wegfinder app to access the bike: open your booking, select ‘Collect bike’ and scan the QR code on the door. The door will then open automatically. It is not possible to access the hire location without a valid booking. The precise vehicle number will be displayed in the app; go to this bicycle and follow the instructions in the app to unlock the bike lock via Bluetooth.
-
How do I unlock the bike?
The bikes can be locked and unlocked with the wegfinder app (via Bluetooth). Simply follow the instructions in the app. Please check that your smartphone’s Bluetooth function and GPS are activated. If you cannot establish a connection with the lock, close the app, switch off Bluetooth and reactivate it. Open the app again and repeat the unlocking process.
-
How do I lock the bike when I am out and about?
The rental bikes can of course also be locked and unlocked outside the hire location during the hire period. The electronic frame lock provided for this purpose is permanently attached to the bike. Simply select ‘Pause’ in the wegfinder app and follow the instructions in the app.
-
How do I end the hire period?
Take the bike back to the hire location, open the wegfinder app, select ‘End hire’ and follow the subsequent instructions in the app.
Please plug the charging cable back in when you return the bike so that the next cyclist will also find a fully charged e-bike.
-
What do I do if there is no space for the bike at the hire location when I return it?
Each bike has its own number and a parking space. There should always be a free space. If this is not the case for some inexplicable reason, the bike may of course also be parked in the corridor, but always within the hire location. In such a case, please inform Customer Services on +43 51717 2100.
-
What happens if I am late and do not return my bike on time?
In principle, bikes must be returned by 23:45. If this deadline cannot be met, a special fee will be charged in addition to the daily rate for any supplementary days. There is a 15-minute grace period before you will incur any extra charges.
-
Will I be sent an invoice?
Yes, the invoice can be viewed shortly after the end of the hire in your profile under ‘Tickets & Trips’ and will also be sent to you by email.
-
