Closure Wien Matzleinsdorfer Platz
27 March 2021 - 19 April 2022

As part of the expansion of the U2 underground line, the Vienna Matzleinsdorfer Platz station is being fundamentally modernized and made more attractive to our customers - almost no stone is left unturned. In order to be able to carry out the extensive renovation work, it is necessary to block the stop from 27 March 2021 to 19 April 2022. During the closure, no trains stop at Vienna's Matzleinsdorfer Platz. The station will therefore not be used for just over a year.

During this time, as replacement lines, please use the Badner Bahn between Vienna Meidling and Vienna Matzleinsdorfer Platz and the tram line 18 between Vienna Central Station and Vienna Matzleinsdorfer Platz.

S-Bahn from/to Gänserndorf Line S1 starts/ends on weekdays in Vienna Praterstern, on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays in Vienna Meidling.

From the end of March 2021 to April 2022, the stop will be converted into a state-of-the-art, customer-friendly train station. The main part of the renovation work is a passage that leads directly to the future U2, the complete redesign of the hall area including the toilet in the basement, barrier-free access to the platforms with elevators, and the redesign of the platforms themselves. The new roof will also be converted with a photovoltaic system for electricity generation, so that the future lighting will also be operated.
