The outdoor leisure park spanning more than 9 hectares situated at the entrance to the Ötztal valley has long been known for athletic activities close to nature and keeping its finger on the pulse. The indoor bike park measuring 3,700 m² is a brand new addition to the facilities. AREA 47 has been enriching the cycling region of Tyrol with a unique year-round offer since the end of April 2023. The first indoor bike park in the country offers year-round cycling fun regardless of the weather for all skill levels, and is even open in the evenings. Now there's no excuse for letting your skills and bike get rusty over winter! All cycling enthusiasts, from holiday guests and sports clubs to professional riders, will get their money's worth here. Two years of planning went into developing the multi-faceted facilities featuring pumptrack, flowline, kicker, drops and more, perfectly in line with the latest trends.
The bike park is skillfully integrated into the 3,700 m² hall with its various lines and AREAs. The front area boasts 1,000 m² of asphalt pumptrack for riders, including a kids' pumptrack. Just behind it, the jumpline promises action-packed jumps with two roll-ins (from medium to expert) and a landing bag, as well as a 140-metre-long dirt flowline with two lines of easy to medium difficulty for cruising. This leads along the side of the hall over the jumps and waves to the Skills AREA. A variety of features made of natural materials, such as a roots, a rock garden, practice drops and hairpin turns, help you to develop your abilities.
For those who don't own their own equipment, there is a rental service on site offering everything you need, such as Trek mountain bikes, helmets and protectors. Visitors will also have access to a test & try station for adidas Five Ten mountain bike shoes, a Chill-out AREA, showers, and changing rooms.
The coolest water park in Austria
The centrepiece of AREA 47 is the 20,000 m² Water AREA, where you will find unique activities to make the heart beat faster. The complex includes a giant slide park, freestyle jump with surf slide and slip'n'slide, blobbing (being launched from a giant air-filled cushion) and cannonballing (being fired from a water catapult) as well as a diving tower that is open to a height of 27 m for shows and training sessions by international professional cliff divers. On the Splash Track, an obstacle course in the water, new since 2021 and almost 50 metres long, you can climb, slide, balance and dive into the refreshing water of the Water AREA to your heart’s content. Slacklines, trampolines and a deep-water soloing bouldering wall are all suspended over the water, challenging visitors to perform balancing acts and completing the range of activities on offer.
Wakeboarding amidst the Tyrolean mountains
AREA 47 opened the first wakeboard facility in western Austria in the spring of 2016. A newly built 20,000 m² lake is the backdrop for the ultra-modern cable (5 masts, 420 m lift length) with a wide variety of obstacles. The perfect infrastructure against an alpine backdrop has turned the Wake AREA into a community hotspot for this popular sport in no time at all.
Outdoor classes: rafting, canyoning & climbing
Rafting groups set off several times a day to explore the surrounding white-water areas, such as on the Inn River running through the Imst Gorge or on the Ötztaler Ache River. Pure adrenaline pumps through your veins when canyoning. An enormous climbing wall spirals up the bridge pillar in AREA 47, leading to the tallest high ropes course in the country, which is suspended from the underside of the Achbrücke bridge, making a powerful impression with 27 metres of air beneath your feet. The spectacular mega swing, flying fox and via ferrata tours in nearby rock paradises round off the action-packed range for height enthusiasts. The ultimate challenge for all adrenaline fans awaits on the Benni Raich bridge in Pitztal: the jump from 94 metres on a bungy jump or valley swing.
AREA 47 also brilliantly combines cycling and mountains at the highest level. Mountain bikers can get closer to their chosen destinations with the pro guides and state-of-the-art (e-)bikes, including complete protective equipment. All of the activities can be booked online ahead of time.
The place to be - both day and night: sleep, eat, party
If you want to get the most out of the AREA 47 experience, you should stay on site. Adrenaline-junkies are welcome to stay in cosy log-cabin style lodges or comfortable double rooms. The Lakeside Restaurant with a view of the lake and the first-class à la carte BBQ and steakhouse plus bar in the River Haus, one of the most popular party locations in the Ötztal, offer refreshments for during and after your adventures.
